Winter in Klosters, Switzerland
Klosters is justifiably world famous for winter skiing. It has maintained its picture postcard Alpine village feel, but at the same time the lift link to Davos and all the kilometres of trails in-between (300km of pistes, 55 lifts and 20 or more mountain restaurants, including an ice bar and restaurant) ensure that visitors have a truly world class winter sports arena to enjoy, and unlike many big areas, there are challenges for all ability levels here, not just endless intermediate level terrain.
Children and beginners are not forgotten, of course. Madrisa with its Adventure Land in Klosters Dorf, combined with the Heid ski lift and Snowgarden with its magic carpet in Klosters Platz, will be able to get anyone started on skis or snowboard. Ski/snowboard lessons either in groups or privately can be booked with Klosters ski school and Saas ski school.
The resort boasts one of the longest continuous pistes in Europe - over 12km long (with a 2034m altitude difference) - and 105km of prepared cross-country trails. With the highest lifts and ski slopes above 2500m, Klosters ski area is snow sure and with plenty of mountain restaurants dotted all over the slopes, you can set your own pace.
Night skiing is offered in Selfranga, Klosters (a 5 minute uphill walk, or short bus ride away from our holiday apartment) and in Davos, Parsenn where you can enjoy an evening on the slopes combined with a fondue and warm glass of Glühwein.
For non-skiers, there is an almost endless variety of other interests to enjoy, including 3 giant sledge runs, 20km of winter walking trails, ice hockey, skating, curling, horse-drawn sleigh rides, swimming in Davos with external thermal bath, indoor golf, tennis and squash, paragliding, horse riding, shopping (Alpenrhein Outlet Centre, Landquart) and spa/wellness.
Chalet Platzersch hof is perfectly located to take full advantage of all Klosters and the region has to offer being an 8 minute flat walk in ski boots to the Gotschna ski lift accessing the main ski region of Klosters and Davos, the train station, and a fun 4km sledge run (naturally there is also a bus if you're feeling lazy) and a 5 minute walk to the sports centre with winter activities such as ice skating, ice hockey, curling etc.
Klosters has a village feel, but offers something for everyone from sophisticated award-winning restaurants, cozy and romantic fondue stüblis to pizzerias for all the family. There are some fun apres-ski bars, piano bars and more lively bars and a nightclub for any youngsters or the young at heart in your party, basically you can dance the night away whatever your style. Davos, which is a short car journey away or 20 minutes on the train, which is free with your visitor's card, offers a wide selection of bars, restaurants and hotels and is one of a very few mountain towns in Switzerland. There is a small cinema in Klosters and a larger one in Davos.
All your ski equipment needs can be met in Klosters, with plenty of ski shops offering clothing, ski/snowboard, boots etc. We are very happy to offer guests of Chalet Platzersch hof a 10% discount with Andrist-Sport.
