Summer in Klosters, Switzerland

Imagine snow-capped mountains, blue skies, green meadows dotted with alpine flowers, crystal clear mountain streams, all to the sound of distant cow bells; this is Klosters in the summer.

The vast hiking area of Klosters, Davos and the Prättigau valley with more than 700 km of hiking trails is accessible from your doorstep.  The cable cars and mountain railways transport hikers to the numerous peaks that surround Klosters and Davos.  Whether you are a serious hiker or simply wish to picnic by a mountain stream, Klosters and the surrounding area has all you could wish for.  Fireplaces are provided all over the area (with logs) enabling you to enjoy an outdoor grill during your walk.

For golfers, Klosters offers a very picturesque 9 hole golf course (situated 5 minutes walk from Chalet Platzersch hof and accessible by bus) and Davos has a full 18 hole championship course.

The area is, of course, famous for its mountain biking.  The Swiss Bike Masters (over 120 km) is one of the toughest bike races in the world.  However, with over 230 km of separate biking routes, there are levels to suit all abilities and plenty of downhill runs (several mountain cables cars/railways take bikes).  There is a freeriding trail at the Gotschna for extreme bikers and an Adventure Bike Park in Davos suitable for all riders, including children. As bikes can be taken on trains the number of accessible trails is endless.

After an active morning, why not spend some time at the outdoor swimming pool in Klosters, with activities for the children (playground, table tennis, volleyball, toddlers splash park etc.) and diving area, water slides and fun lazy river and fountains situated 5 minutes walk from Chalet Platzersch hof.  Alternatively take a walk around the Davos See, feed the wild squirrels and enjoy a swim in the crystal clear waters, or hire a pedaloe or catamaran.

Other summer activities in and around Klosters include trotinette hire (great family fun, descend the mountain on a giant scooter), horse riding, horse-drawn carriage rides, paragliding, fishing, water sports, indoor/outdoor tennis, mini-golf, swimming, summer tobogganing at Schatzalp, rollerblading, archery, clay pigeon shooting and rock climbing.  There is also a Tree Top Rope Park in the Davos Adventure Park and Madrisa Adventure Land, with petting zoo offers lots of fun for younger children.

In addition to all these activities, all the transport facilities in the Klosters and Davos region - including the cable cars and mountain railways - are free of charge with your visitor's card.

Why not try a different summer holiday, offering fun, fresh air, beautiful scenery and a different activity for every day!
